Lyvia Image Generation Guide Part 1: Writing Prompts
Lyvians, welcome! This article will guide you to get started with Lyvia. Even if you're already a long time Lyvia subscriber, you might even learn a thing or two from this so please sit back, relax, and happy reading!
Writing Simple Prompts
Lyvia's menu and controls in sidebar can be confusing at first, but don't worry - let's start from the very basic. On Lyvia's sidebar, we'll focus on this:
There's Prompt box and Style selector. These 2 are the only settings we need on this article. No need to use the others unless you know what you're doing. For Style, stick with Lyvia 3, a general-purpose model that is good at producing photorealistic images by default.
Now let's play with the Prompt. Tap the Prompt box to change the prompt. Ignore the (+) button since it's just to reset the prompt box to default prompt and basically useless.
First of all, start from the subject. For example, you want to generate a photo of a woman like many others—so type it and generate one.
Next, let's be more specific—like clothing! What do you want her to wear? While I'm sure you want to go straight for casual outfit, office outfit, tshirt, or even nude—let's try an unusual choice: kebaya. It's an Indonesian traditional dress with high level of detail so we can see how detail the AI can draw it.
Let's try generating "woman wearing kebaya":
It's kind of interesting that since kebaya is from Indonesia, the AI assumed the woman is also from Indonesia. But what if the woman wearing kebaya is from, say, Poland, for example? Let's try with "beautiful polish woman wearing kebaya".
See that beautiful blonde hair and light colored eyes! You can add the hairstyle and color to the prompt if you want, but it's already good.
Now, Polish women don't usually wear kebaya so if you Google that you probably won't get too many results, but Lyvia's AI did it anyway—from that we know one use case of AI is to make images we can't find easily on Google...
Now let's try adding some background. The first thing that popped in my mind is fireplace and candles, so let's add them to the prompt.
Not bad right? All the elements we asked are combined smoothly.
There are more modifiers for even more fun:
- Colors:
- clothing color: red kebaya
- eye color: blue eyes
- hair color: blonde
- Emotions: smiling, happy
- Distance: close up, half body, full body
Let's try a few modifiers, like smiling and half body.
Sweet! Try black kebaya to change the color clothing.
By the way, if you try switching to anime model, you can make anime version of it, even without changing the prompt at all! Switch to Lyvia Anime 2 (or 3) and hit generate:
Prompting Difference from ChatGPT
Image generation in Lyvia is very different than ChatGPT. You don't command it. You describe the picture in your imagination, as detailed as possible.
Don't type stuff like these...
face swap: Typing this into the prompt will only confuse the AI. Do you want to make a face swap icon or symbol? Or illustration of faceswapping process? Most probably don't.
To do a faceswap, you only need to upload a selfie in the Faceswap section in Lyvia sidebar, then, when you generate an image, Lyvia will swap the face in the generated image with the selfie you uploaded.
nudify: Like I said before: don't command it, but describe the final image you want. Typing this into the prompt will probably generate you a logo or something.
To change an image, upload an image in Initial Image (img2img) section, describe the that you want it to be, adjust the denoise strength and tap generate. We'll talk more about this later.
Prompting Difference from Stable Diffusion
If you come from Stable Diffusion or other Stable Diffusion-based image generation apps, you probably used to type prompts like "8k, best quality, masterpiece, absurdres"... but you don't really need to type that in Lyvia because the models already trained to generate best images by default.
